First African-American woman elected diocesan bishop

The Rev. Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows was elected 11th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis in October 2016 and is the first African-American woman elected to as a diocesan bishop in the Episcopal Church. Baskerville-Burrows will be ordained and consecrated on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Clowes Memorial Hall on the campus of Butler University. Women of Color in the Episcopal Church will be the theme for the 2017 Episcopal Women's History Project Conference to take place Monday, June 12 through Thursday, June 15 at the Baltimore Maritime Institute. Stay tuned for more details.
