Regional Reports

Burdekin and Bowen

The season is almost over in this region with only very small volumes expected to be dispatched this week.

Mareeba and Dimbulah

Wet weather in the first week of the year has disrupted harvest and impacted on volumes being dispatched. Volumes of KP are slowing over the next two weeks but volumes of other varieties will continue to be harvested through January and February. Harvest of late season varieties such as Keitt should commence mid to late January.

South East and Central Queensland

Growers in Central Queensland have been harvesting for several weeks and South East Queensland growers have also commenced early harvest.

The AMIA team will add to these regional descriptions as more information becomes available.

Crop Flow

Last week’s dispatched tray volumes from Bowen/Burdekin, Mareeba/Dimbulah and South East and Central Queensland: 211,982 trays.

Hong Kong and Singapore

Our promotional activities in Hong Kong and Singapore are now well under way with campaigns implemented in Wellcome supermarkets in Hong Kong and NTUC Fair Price, CMM Sheng Siong and Cold Storage supermarkets in Singapore. I’m travelling to both markets during the course of the next six days visiting stores and meeting with importers, retailers and government representatives from Trade Investment Queensland and Austrade who have been assisting us with on-the-ground co-ordination.

I look forward to updating you in the coming weeks.
