PRESCHOOL & ACADEMY 2017-2018
Families Pre-Registration begins for Fall 2017.
JANUARY 23:  All current LCS Preschool families re-enrolling in LCS Preschool/Academy are eligible to pre-register.
JANUARY 30:  All current/past LCS families are eligible to pre-register.

Pre-registration requires only two items submitted: a $100 registration check/cash (no plastic) and a completed pre-registration form. Once availability is confirmed by email, online registration will complete the official enrollment process.Please contact Preschool Director, Melody Kugel with any questions in regards to Preschool and Academy for 2017.

Sometimes you just want to "know before you go". That is why Lincoln Christian School has provided a way for you and your prospective Kindergartner for next year to try us out so that you know what to expect about Kindergarten at LCS before your child goes. Select one of the three options for your student to come into the classroom with other current K students while you hear from our Superintendent and staff in an informal setting. Sign up your student today!
On Thursday, February 16 at 7 PM we will have an informational meeting for Parents only

REENROLLMENT OPENS FEBRUARY 1, 2017
For all currently enrolled students, reenrollment packets will be available beginning February 1. To reenroll your students on February 1, simply log into your RenWeb ParentsWeb account, using our district code of LCS-NE. Then click on "Family Information" and reenroll your child(ren).

TACO BAR TONIGHT
Friday, January 13 we will have a deluxe taco bar at the concession stand during the basketball games. $6 purchases 3 hard or soft tacos, with all the toppings, rice, a cookie and a bottle of water or pop.

LCS FAMILY NEED
As a follow up to the email that was sent out this week in regards to one of our Lincoln Christian families in need due to medical circumstances and you would like to minister to this family during this difficult time, here is a reminder of the ways you can help:
If you are willing to provide a home-cooked meal for the Bartek family, please contact Adam Bartek with a text preferably at 402-770-6600.  He will make arrangements with you.

If you are willing to provide gift cards, please leave in a sealed envelope with the name BARTEK on it in the school office, the family will pick them up from our office each week.

SECONDARY
CONFERENCE SPEECH TOURNAMENT
Lincoln Christian is hosting the Conference Speech Tournament on Saturday, February 25. We are seeking judges for the day, if you are interested, please contact Vikki Power.

PEP CONFERENCE, MARCH 16-18, 2017
What is PEP? Parents Encouraging Parents.
The purpose of PEP is to bring parents of children with disabilities together in an accepting and confidential environment, giving them the opportunity to share ideas, feelings and common concerns, and to obtain information on parenting and educating a child with a disability. Parents will go home with renewed energy, hope and a desire to work closely with professionals who serve their child so that every child can experience the fullest life. Who Should Attend? This conference is open to all Nebraska parents who are raising a child with a verified disability. The child must have an active IFSP/IEP. For more information, download brochure. 

2017 GEOGRAPHY BEE CHAMPION
Congratulations to secondary student John Haase, 8th grade, for placing first in the grades 5th-8th Geography Bee.


ELEMENTARY

GEOGRAPHY BEE
John Haase, an 8th-grade student at Lincoln Christian School, won the school competition of the National Geographic Bee on January 11, 2017, and a chance at a $50,000 scholarship. The school Bee was the first round in the 29th annual National Geographic Bee. John will take a qualifying test; up to 100 of the top scorers will then be eligible to compete in the state Bee on March 31, 2017. Runner up was Andrew Clough, a 6th-grade student.

NO SCHOOL
A reminder that on Monday, January 16 and Tuesday, January 17 there is no school for K-8.

CHAPEL
Campus Life Executive Director, Matt Schulte spoke in Chapel today on perseverance. He had a student stand barefoot in a bucket of ice to see how long they could “preserver”. He also shared James 1:2-3  “Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters when you face trials of any kind. Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

COMMUNITY
LEGION BASEBALL 2017

We will be holding a mandatory orientation on Saturday, February 18th from 9am to 10am for potential players. This will allow coaches to explain to the players how the season will be structured as well as have a short practice.  
On Saturday, February 25 from 1pm to 2:30pm we will hold mandatory training. This will allow us to reiterate the structure of the season and have a longer practice.  
On March 6 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm we will be holding Commitment Day. This will give players an opportunity to take everything they've heard and make a decision to play with Willmar Electric, or Teckmeyer Financial for the summer of 2017.  
If your son is unable to make any of the dates listed, but wants to play legion baseball this summer please contact Tony Dutter (duttertony@gmail.com or 847-845-4825) .
All of the events listed above will take place in Firth, NE @ Camp Solaris. The address is: 2349 State Highway Spur 34B, Firth, NE 68358.  It's about a 25 minute drive from Lincoln.

RESPITE NIGHT AT FIRST FREE CHURCH
The Masterpiece Ministry at First Free is offering an evening of respite to parents with special needs on Friday, January 20, 2017. Parents can drop off their child(ren) with special needs, along with siblings through age 13, while background-checked volunteers care for them. We offer a variety of activities for the kids to enjoy. Our volunteers feel so blessed to serve parents in this way and have a great time laughing, playing and interacting with these wonderful kids! This allows their parents to enjoy a night out. (Pre-registration is required.)  Contact Danelle Mills at (402) 261-8304 for more information.

MARRIAGE GETAWAY
Marriage Getaways are coming to Nebraska!  The Weekend to Remember is coming to Omaha March 10-12, 2017 and Lincoln March 24-26, 2017.  A special rate of half the regular rate is going on now through January 23, 2017. Why Christian Education Should Be Considered By Christian Parents
There are many reasons why parents choose to send their children to Lincoln Christian and why they do not. For the next few weeks I want to focus on considerations for sending a child to Lincoln Christian that may help inform you to encourage others who are asking the question “should I send my child next year?”
