New VisitWiltshire Printed Publications

We have now taken delivery of our 2017 Visitor Guide and Travel Trade Guide, with the Visitor Map being delivered next week. These can be downloaded here. If you require hard copies be sure to attend our forthcoming partner meetings where small numbers will be available. For larger supplies please contact Jenny.

PR activity from January - December 2016 achieved a Reach of 124 million people and an AVE of £340,000. There has been an increased focus in 2016 on bloggers and we plan to continue this into 2017.
We have received the first coverage from Debra Bokur, USA Journalist who visited in November History and Charm in Chippenham, with more to follow soon. The latest press release issued was Chippenham and we have received online coverage here and a radio interview on BBC Wiltshire on 4 January. The Wilton Classic and Supercar special offer was recently featured in the Wiltshire Times and Gazette & Herald.
Forthcoming press releases include Valentine's Day and February Half Term - so please let Flo know if you have anything newsworthy to be included. For 2017 there will be a series of town information releases issued to media and added to our press pack and press features online. Town partners will be contacted shortly with a draft release and suggested timings for issue. Please look out for this and respond to Flo accordingly.

There has been a big focus on Travel Trade in 2016 with the South West Tourism Growth Fund activity - an update can be found here. From our own VisitWiltshire travel trade activity we can report that seven of the operators and group travel organisers we hosted in 2015/2016 have reported having already made bookings worth nearly £50,000 to Wiltshire's visitor economy as a result of coming on our familiarisation visits. Initial feedback from our October 2016 familiarisation visit suggests that this event will generate over £250,000 to Wiltshire in additional direct visitor spend.

Positive Growth Forecast for Inbound Tourism to the UK in 2017 - Forecasts from VisitBritain, the national tourism agency, indicate that 2017 is set to be another record year for inbound tourism to the UK. Spending by overseas visitors is predicted to reach £24.1 billion in 2017, an 8% increase on 2016, where spending is expected to reach £22.3 billion. The number of overseas visitors to the UK is expected to rise in 2017 to 38.1 million visits, up 4% on 2016 which is likely to see about 36.7 million visits by year end. Find out more here.
