We wish all our readers a happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful new year. We also realize that's a tall order, but hope that the enjoyment of good food and drink, whether shared with others or savored in splendid solitude, will provide solace and comfort in 2017. This week we broke the news that Charlie Hallowell, owner of three much-loved restaurants in Oakland, was venturing into Berkeley.
