Ears to Hear—Introduction to the Year
Welcome to 2017, our second year of Ears to Hear.
In 2016, we walked through the entire New Testament, we had a season of Thanksgiving Scriptures, the Pastors and Ministry Directors brought us a Christmas edition focussing on the titles of Christ and then the Elders finished the year with verses about our church’s vision.
For 2017, we will take eight months to go through the Psalms and Proverbs. Many folks from our congregation will be providing the daily response thoughts. We will again use the NET Bible as our text. We will go through the Psalms from Monday to Friday and then the Proverbs on the weekends.
To help our daily response writers, we are hosting a graduate level seminar on the Psalms with Dr. Ed Curtis. While designed for our writers, anyone from the congregation may attend. Join us on January 15 at 6:00pm in the Chapel.
Invite a friend, family member or co-worker to walk through Ears to Hear with you. The Psalms share the praise and lament of Israel and the Proverbs give wisdom for walking through life.

Executive Pastor

Nominating Elders
Annually we nominate Elders in January and affirm them in May. I Timothy 3:1–6 says the qualifications for an Elder are:
This saying is trustworthy: “If someone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a good work.” The overseer then must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher, not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not contentious, free from the love of money. He must manage his own household well and keep his children in control without losing his dignity. But if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church of God? He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. And he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap.
Our Constitution says:
The Nominating Committee shall be appointed annually by the Elder Board and shall consist of a chairman, a vice-chairman and five members, including representatives from the Elder Board, the ministry staff and the congregation at large. The committee chairman may ask to increase the size of the committee to help in the workload or to provide knowledge required to fulfill the committee’s charter.
We invite any member of EvFree to submit names for future Elders to eldernominations@evfreefullerton.com. Thank you for your prayerful participation in nominating Elders for our church.
