A study finds that women who give birth in their 30s tend to have longer telomeres, DNA “caps” that protect the ends of chromosomes and that shorten as people age.

The Columbia University holiday schedule is available online, with options to add dates individually or collectively to your calendar. Offices and laboratories will be closed on these days. Please note that the Morningside and medical center holiday schedules differ slightly.

Influenza Mask-On Requirement

As of Dec. 29, the New York State Department of Health has declared that influenza is prevalent in New York State. All Columbia employees who enter or work in NYP space and most FPO practice sites and who have not been vaccinated against the influenza virus must wear a surgical mask.
 
Workforce Health and Safety will administer the flu vaccine weekdays in Harkness Pavilion, Room 112, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and in the Milstein lobby from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Because of ongoing campus improvements, the following Facilities-related work is scheduled for the coming weeks: 

  • Elevator service disruption to P&S 10th floor until June 30
  • Chiller plant maintenance until March 1
