Happy New Year from NCTR!
Dear Friends and Partners,

Happy New Year!

As we kick off 2017, we want to acknowledge and applaud the incredible work of all of our partners - Network programs and new sites, policymakers, district leaders, university teams, nonprofit collaborators, philanthropic supporters, board members and others - on behalf of teachers and children throughout the country over the past year. Because of your efforts and demonstrated impact, the residency movement continues to gain momentum, and the need for high quality clinical preparation is recognized - and supported - more than ever before.

That said, our work is far from done. This year, NCTR will induct our third cohort of new partner residencies through our Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant, enabling them to develop the core elements of the residency model through participation in our New Site Development Program. We will continue to advance our learning and that of the field through collaboration with our 22 Next Generation Network Partners, all of whom are serving as provider programs in our Teacher Preparation Transformation Center initiative through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's Alliance for Advancing Justice by Transforming Teacher Education project. And we will continue to engage with the California State University system in its move toward clinical preparation, providing selected campuses with intensive consulting and guidance as they transition to a clinically focused model.

As always, we are keeping watch for developments in local, state and federal policy related to teacher preparation and will update you with how any changes will impact the residency model. We remain grateful to you for your support of our work, and for sharing our unrelenting commitment to transforming teacher preparation to support students across the nation.

With thanks,

Anissa Listak
