Happy New Year!

As a new year starts we would like to say a big thank you to all of our customers for your support over the past year and wish you a year of bountiful harvests, green gardens and colourful blooms! We are off to a busy start this year with lots of new developments and some exciting new products.Please take the time to scroll through our newsletter to learn all about whats in store!

A first in South Africa! Never before have growers had such a wide range of Garlic not yet seen in SA. Stocks are limited and once sold out will only be available again next year. We are offering our garlic on pre-order and shipments will commence at the end of January. A few vital things to know about garlic orders :
  1. Specifically grown as seed garlic for planting.
  2. NOT IMPORTED - Grown over the last 6 years in the Western Cape.
  3. Fully acclimatized to South African conditions.
  4.  Growing guidance will be sent to you on exactly how you can get the best harvests.
  5. Late summer to Autumn is the ideal Garlic planting season. Whilst garlic can be planted at different times of the year, the best harvests can be expected when planting in the ideal season.
  6. All garlic is sold in various pack sizes to suit small to medium scale growers. On the product listings, click on the drop down menu to view the quantities on offer.
  7. Seeds and products other than garlic ordered now, will be shipped in the same parcel as your garlic when it is ready. If you are in a rush for the other items in your order we would suggest placing separate orders for your Garlic and the other items you want now.
  8. STOCK IS LIMITED - So please do not delay in placing your order to secure your stock.
The varieties on offer this year are Purple Glazer, Chesnok Red, Tuscan, Rose de Lautrec, Persian Star, Susan Delafield, Music, Leningrad & Wengers Red Russian. As well as the above heirloom varieties we also have the Elephant / Giant garlic that we always stock annually. These are available in packs of 10 to 1 000 cloves on our website. Larger quantities are available on request.Please take some time to browse through the exciting varieties being offered.

Chesnok Red Heirloom Garlic


Chesnok Red is a purple stripe garlic. Chesnok Red is listed in the Seeds of Diversity Canada catalogue of heritage varieties. Chesnok Red has a clear bold flavour and a colourful eye-catching bulb. Excellent baked or roasted.

Purple Glazer Heirloom Garlic


A glazed purple stripe garlic.  Satiny clove wrappers, a vivid, royal purple tinged with shiny gold and/or silver hues makes this one of the most attractive garlics.Purple Glazer is a medium-hot garlic that has sharp flavour with sweetness underneath, and is backloaded with spiciness. An excellent roasting garlic that holds texture and flavour. 

Tuscan Heirloom Garlic


Tuscan is a Turban hardneck variety. Originating from Tuscany in Italy.A medium hot garlic with a robust flavour, perfect in your Italian dishes. Purple and white pinstriped bulb skins that turn dappled towards the basal plate. 

Leningrad Heirloom Garlic


A Porcelain garlic originally collected from Belarus. Grows well in cold or mild winter areas. Leningrad is so beautiful it could only have been designed by an artist. It has thick white luxuriant bulb wrappers which peel away to reveal beautiful beige purple clove covers with elongated tips almost like a Purple Stripe garlic.

Time to get your lawn in order! Seeds for Africa stock the largest range of lawn seeds in South Africa. Seeds are conveniently packed in pack sizes that equate to the square meters that you are looking to cover. Pack size coverage ranges from 10m2 to 10 000m2, with larger quantities available on request.
