Spring Term 2017

Opportunities for schools this term.....

Primary Good Practice CPD - 20th January

20th January, 9.30 - 3.30pm at the Lyric Hammersmith
Our Spring term music CPD day is aimed at primary music teachers and those responsible ensuring the delivery of the music curriculum. We have devised the day so it is a mixture of practical delivery to support the teaching of the Curriculum in Primary Schools; and there will be a focus on reflective practice.

With guest presentations from Canela Fina, Jennifer Page, and Louisa Roberts, the day is set to focus the mind for all primary music delivery. Battle of the Bands Final! - 25th January

Weds 25th Jan at 7pm in Bush Hall will see the return of the Tri-borough Music Hub Battle of the Bands for Hammersmith & Fulham; Kensington & Chelsea; and Westminster. This event is organised and run by the Tri-borough Music Hub in partnership with The Rhythm Studio, and Bush Hall, and will feature incredible young talent performing in front of a celebrity judging panel to include Cerys Matthews (Catatonia), Paul Fletcher
(The Feeling), Sam Hall (Goldierocks) and others to be confirmed.
Come along to watch them battle it out in a professional venue with incredible prizes to be won. It will be a ticketed event (via Bush Hall). Tickets will be free for under-18s, and £5 for over 18s. Free and paid for tickets must be purchased in advance from Bush Hall. No ticket, no entry. Click here to book your tickets!

Year 10 Day - 2nd February

2nd February, 9.30 - 2.30, in the Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall, with ABRSM / RAH / RCM / TBMH
Time: It is held in the day time – pupils go to school as usual and then travel to RAH ready to start for 10am, can arrive from 9.30am. Day ends at 2.15/2.30 to allow time to travel back to school for dismissal.
 
Cost: The cost to attend is free if the school is a signed-up as a ‘school partner’; or £75 otherwise. A reminder that it costs just £100 per annum to be a school partner and access everything that we offer, or schools can pay to attend one-off activity.

Tri-borough Youth Orchestra Half Term Course:
14th - 16th February

You don’t have to be an existing member of the fabulous Tri-borough Youth Orchestra to join them for their half term course at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith from 14th - 16th February 2017! In fact we are trying to encourage lots of new members to join this ensemble – this course is the perfect way to come and find out more about TBYO.

On this course, you’ll be rehearsing exciting film scores from Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, plus a contemporary Latin orchestral work by Arturo Marquez, and the well-known Suites 1 and 2 from Bizet’s opera “Carmen” with a concert presentation on the final day.

NEW from the Tri-borough Music Hub - Instrumental Playing Days 2017
 
The Tri-borough Music Hub is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for instrumental pupils currently learning in or out of school who have at least one years’ playing experience and who are up to Grade 3 in standard. We are looking for young instrumentalists who are ready for their first ensemble experience. These bespoke playing days are ideal for pupils from Y5, Y6 and Y7.
All three days will take place within the school day at the Great Hall, Kensington Town Hall, from 10.00am – 2.15pm, and will offer pupils an exciting ‘massed ensemble’ playing experience accompanied by a live band.
  •  Wind and Brass day – Tuesday 6th June 2017
  • Strings day – Wednesday 7th June 2017
  • Guitar (acoustic) day – Thursday 8th June 2017
The days aim to provide a rewarding, enjoyable and high quality musical experience for all pupils, who will play a range of exciting contemporary repertoire including from the Groove and Play series, written by Sally Greaves.

International Youth Choir Festival 2017

The Royal Albert Hall and National Youth Choirs of Great Britain are offering primary schools from across the Tri-Borough Music Hub the opportunity to take part in the 2017 “Songs from Around the World” workshops series. These exciting workshops are linked to a new event taking place at the Hall in April 2017 – the inaugural International Youth Choir Festival.

The cost of delivering each workshop is over £900, but we are pleased to offer this to
Tri-borough schools completely free of charge.
Workshop Dates
Available dates: Week commencing 20th March.
Schools may select a morning or an afternoon session on any day that week (09:30 – 11:30 or 13:00 – 15:00) – please note we cannot guarantee that our allocated session will be on your preferred date.

Christmas Festival Photographs

Among the many activities in the Hub last term, in December we had our three Christmas Festivals for Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. Photographs from all three Festivals are now available to schools and parents.
