Report on CHMTA Play-a-thon 2016
Thank you to all who participated in the 5th annual Playathon! We changed venues back to University place and had a very successful event - raising a total $977 towards music scholarships for underprivileged students. Twelve teachers participate and students shared a variety of music, including jazz tunes, classical, and of course - lots of Christmas carols! We had wonderful feedback from audience members and many passersby made donations and commented on how lovely the event was! I encourage you to keep this event in mind for winter 2017. Bill and I will be in touch early fall with dates and details!

Announcements:
CHAPEL HILL PHILHARMONIA YOUNG ARTIST CONCERTO COMPETITION
Dear Teachers,
Veronica Allen
CHP Concerto Competition Co-Chair
Greg McCallum Scholarship Fund
Hi Everyone,
It's just unbelievable that it has almost been a year since our dear Greg passed. Though he is still missed terribly, it is our hope that by establishing an endowed scholarship to honor his life and work, we will feel connected to him forever.
Please feel free to share the attached Call for Contributions with any dear ones who knew him! Since I'm no longer in touch with the chapters of the NCMTA, if anyone could help get the word out to more friends, musicians, teachers and members of his church, that would be so appreciated. The Gregory McCallum Memorial Scholarship for Piano is meant to remember Greg's path by helping another NC senior high school student with aspirations to pursue piano as a music major in North Carolina or elsewhere realize their dreams. (Greg studied at University of North Carolina, University of Maryland and Eastman School of Music).
Please find details below describing how you can help. All donations are tax deductible.
Happiest of Holidays to everyone and here's to a 2017 full of good health, good music, hope and contentment!
