Five Tasty Tips for Putting Good Food on Your Table

by Fawn Pattison, CFSA Member from Raleigh, NC

Fawn shares her struggles to feed her kids, as she puts it "good, unprocessed food without residues of neurotoxic, carcinogenic, or otherwise doom-inducing chemicals on it" and offers creative, clever tips that make it easier to put food you can feel good about on the table every night.

The Willoughbys

Four Principles for Farming & Life

by Stephanie Campbell, Outreach Coordinator

When doctors couldn't cure their daughter of a chronic illness, the Willoughbys decided to start a farm to produce healthy, nourishing food for their family. There have been struggles: heart surgery; a barn fire; and bad weather. But even with everything life has thrown at them, Wil-Moore Farm is thriving – nourishing not only their family but also a tight-knit community of people who care deeply about food that is good for the farmer, the animals, the land and the community.

Tips for Eating Organic Affordably

By Laura Pyatt, formerly of the Durham Co-op Market

Cooking for a large group of people can be expensive, especially if you want to buy organic. I believe eating good food with good friends should not be cost-prohibitive. So, I've figured out some more affordable ways to purchase nutrient-dense, organic food without breaking the bank.

The Rays of Cates Corner

Cates Corner Farm: A North Carolina Century Farm Thrives in the 21st Century

by Laura Fieselman, Writer and Folklorist

“We really believe in good food.” That’s Jonathan Ray of Cates Corner Farm on why he and his family choose small-scale sustainable agriculture. “And we’ve got a strong attachment to the land, I reckon,” he says. Together with his wife, Audrey, Jonathan is reviving his family’s historic farm in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association is on a mission to bring local, organic food to your table from a farmer who shares your values – and we can’t do it without you. Together we are building a regional food system that is good for consumers, good for growers, and good for the land.
