Mandatory Grower Training on Auxin Herbicide Use
Field Report 1/4/17: Training is MANDATORY if you plan to spray XtendiMax or Engenia! To help ensure proper application of the auxin herbicides, N.C. has decided to add a Special Local Need (SLN) label that will have its own requirements in addition to the federal label. The N.C. SLN label will state the following: “The producer, certified applicator, or person responsible for the application of this product on cotton or soybeans, in-crop, must attend Auxin Herbicides – Best Management Practices training that is approved by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.” Find out the who, what, when, where and why, HERE.
Five Questions to Ask Your Seed Supplier
Seed selection is one of the most important decisions that you make. Asking a seed dealer the right questions can help ensure the best seed varieties are chosen for a particular location and field. Growers should ask a variety of questions to ensure they get the right seed for their fields, including yield data, the source and level of disease resistance, seed treatment options, the availability of herbicide-resistant traits and the genetic source of the variety. See all of the questions you should be asking in THIS ARTICLE.
Start Thinking about Variety Selection Now
Field Report 12/21/16:  Proper variety selection is one of the first steps in producing a high-yielding crop. Each variety has specific strengths and weaknesses that make it more or less suited for a given environment. Maturity group, yield potential, disease tolerance, and herbicide technology are all important to consider when selecting a variety. See everything that you need to consider in the link above!
