North Jr. High

Project Wisdom
Good day, North Junior High. Here are a few words of wisdom.
Our world is changing rapidly. Some people would describe the times as
"turbulent," which means disturbed. People are disturbed . . . disturbed
about terrorism, AIDS, crime, illegal drugs.

Former President John F. Kennedy shares these words of wisdom:

In a time of turbulence and change,
it is more true than ever that knowledge is power.
Every day you have the opportunity to increase your knowledge and
therefore increase your power in the world. And in a rapidly changing world we need bright and powerful human beings to make the changes positive. So today, let's get smart and become powerful people who make a positive difference.

C4 News

C4 is about Community, Citizenship, College and Career; putting hope into your future, thinking about what life will be like and what you would like to be doing when you get out  of high school.  This assignment is about understanding what it means to be part of a team, and why being a good team player is important for career success.  The students chose their favorite quote about teamwork, with a partner they came to a consensus for the reason they liked the quote the best.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!
Hey Parents

For the past number of years North has offered a “Reward Day”, where students earn the privilege of participating in a variety of activities. The purpose of the day is to reward those students who work at getting their school work done, follow school rules, have good behavior, participate in school activities, earn a responsibility pass, get to class on time, and attend school regularly.
This year our “Reward Day” will be held on Friday, March 10th, form 11:30 - 3:15. There are a few activities that will be offered out of the building (bowling, movie at Parkwood Cinema, art at the Paramount, Airmaxx) for a small fee from $8-$15. There will also be activities offered in the building at no charge. Students who don’t earn enough points will have a study hall to catch up on missing work.
Your child has been informed about this “Reward Day” and should be able to tell you more about it if you have any questions. You may also call the school and talk to one of the teachers on the committee (Ms Pueringer, Ms Steinson, Ms LaDue, Ms Chan, Ms Juell, Ms Bautch, Mr Z, Ms Brown)

Help Each Other

FAB stands for “friends against bullying.”  FAB was created five years ago by North students who wanted to make a difference.  Three years ago, FAB CREW was created to encourage students to be their best selves and to offer them training to learn simple ways to help each other and themselves when faced with a tough situation.  After training, each member receives a special badge cover to wear with their ID that identifies them as a FAB CREW member.  Any student who needs help can go to a Crew member to listen and help determine what to do, which adult to talk to, etc.

Students can sign up in the office for training given by Mrs. Olson, 8th grade counselor.

Our FAB MOTTO is:

BE THE CHANGE… BE A FRIEND

Pollinator Garden

The Environment Group through Eagles Act is in the planning stages of planting a pollinator garden that will be at least a half acre in size! Within this garden, the students were hoping to have a few trees, flowers, benches and a large open space that can be used as an outdoor classroom. Be looking for this beautiful addition in the spring!
