Description
Implementing toxicology concepts into the curriculum is one of four learning objectives of the Green Chemistry Commitment (GCC) that is also gaining widespread interest within the chemistry education community. However, many chemistry departments are unsure how to proceed when introducing this topic to their students in their lectures and within the laboratory. In this webinar, three professors from GCC signer schools will share their models of chemical toxicology education. Dr. James Wollack, a professor of chemistry at St. Catherine’s University, uses a student-led model that incorporates student research of hazardous chemicals. Dr. Meghna Dilip and Dr. Jeffry Nichols, professors of chemistry at Worcester State University, work together to teach a stand-alone environmental toxicology class. By sharing best practices, others have the opportunity to utilize and be inspired by these resources and activities for understanding and teaching toxicology concepts to chemistry students.
