Get Water Wise
& Sewer Savvy

Ever wondered how to stay up to date with the latest water conservation measures?  Or if a certain material is safe to dispose of in the sanitary sewer? How about the planned waste water treatment plant expansion? As our city grows, residents need simple, concise answers to those sort of questions. That is the goal of Water Wise and Sewer Savvy, the city’s newest outreach education effort.
We want to help our citizens be informed and to make good decisions about how they participate in the use of our water resources and the needs of responsible sewer operations.

Learn more and become water wise & sewer savvy on our website at www.kylewaterwiseandsewersavvy.com.

Your Kyle Parks & Recreation Department once again has Christmas tree recycling locations around town. They have sites in Waterleaf, Steeplechase, Gregg-Clarke Park and on Kohlers Crossing in front of the water tower. Check our website for maps.

no landscape debris, branches, etc.

Drop off trees through Jan. 31, 2017. Must be free of all lights and decorations. Those items will damage our chipper.

These are just some of the businesses in Goforth Plaza, located at the southern end of Goforth Road at Elmhurst Drive

Goforth Plaza businesses
are still open!

Construction around town is evident. Kyle is undergoing changes and growth daily! Some of the projects are city run, others are TxDOT or Hays County. The end result will be great new roads; but enduring the work can feel painful for both commuters and local businesses.

Your city teamed up with the Kyle Chamber of Commerce to let residents know that the businesses on the south end of Goforth Rd. (in Goforth Plaza which is technically on Elmhurst Rd.) are indeed open and appreciate your patronage.
Watch the video

Here's how to get there:
From I35 NB: take the access road to Brent Blvd. and turn right. At the intersectional Goforth Rd., turn right. Turn left on Elmhurst Drive.

From I35 SB: take Kyle Parkway go left over the interstate. Go to Dacy Lane and turn right. Then turn right again on Bunton Creek Rd. Make a left on Goforth Rd. and take that south to Goforth Plaza.

Note that with the construction, directions may change as new detours emerge. Visit www.cityofkyle.com
for updates.
Sign up to receive Code Red notifications during an emergency. The City of Kyle participates in the Code Red system, which uses a reverse 911 calling system to reach our residents with important information. This is a free service and can help make sure you know about what's happening. We use Code Red for flood information, boil water notices, evacuations and more. Follow this link to sign up for Code Red.
Little free libraries popping up around Kyle

“Take a book, leave a book.” Sometimes the simplest idea sparks a movement. That’s the story of Little Free Libraries, the phenomenally popular tiny library initiative that now counts the City of Kyle as one of its stewards.

A Little Free Library is a free book exchange that usually consists of an attractively decorated small wooden box placed outside.  Anyone can take a book to read or bring a book to share. There are currently over 50,000 of these libraries in all 50 states and over 70 countries.

When the Kyle Public Library was looking for new ways to engage the community, Little Free Libraries provided a unique opportunity. Librarian Jane Ray worked with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to obtain four libraries free of charge, then joined forces with the Parks Department to determine installation locations. Thanks to this combined effort, Little Free Libraries are now available at City Square Park, Steeplechase Park,  Gregg-Clarke Parks and the Kyle Railroad Depot and Heritage Center.

So stop by one and see for yourself what can happen when creative thinking and innovation combine with dedicated teamwork. And while you’re at it, “take a book, leave a book”!
