January 20th, 2017

Facing bad news is never fun, but it is often necessary.  If one does not know the diagnosis, the disease cannot be treated.  If one does not measure the debt, a healthy budget cannot be established.  If one does not acknowledge the darkness, a light will never be turned on.

As we gather again on Sunday to continue our study in the book of 1 John we come face to face with awful news; the reality of sin in our lives.  No one likes to think about sin, but face it we must if we want to take hold of the Savior more fully.

As we come to the One who is the "light of the world" let's have the courage to comprehend this darkness he is pushing out!

CELEBRATIONS AND RECAPS
MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY
From the Unity Service on Sunday evening to the Day of Service partnership with Wayne Trail Elementary, it was an amazing week to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and all of his work.

On Sunday evening, we partnered with a group of diverse area churches for an incredible Unity Service to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr's work, and also recognize that we are not done. On Monday, a group of 4th and 5th graders served our community in various ways (Sunshine, Police Station, and a food pantry) and then came to First Pres for a lunch donated by Chick-Fil-A Toledo (Talmadge) and a movie, "Remember the Titans".

Thank you to all who joined us Sunday, and who helped on Monday.
CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS
Contribution Statements are available for pick up at the table by the elevator. This is the last weekend to pick them up, otherwise they will be mailed out Monday, January 23rd, 2016.
