Hello and welcome to our January newsletter! We wish all North Kelvin residents a happy, healthy and prosperous new year and look forward to meeting more of you during 2017.

Our first meeting of the year is on Tuesday 17 January (6.30–8.30pm, St Charles' Church Hall, 1 Kelvinside Gardens, G20 6BG). Please come along if you have any views on a particular local issue, or even just to find out more about us. We would be delighted to see you. Our calendar of meetings for the year ahead is:

All meetings are on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Some other dates for your new diaries:
  • Tuesday 24 January, 7.30pm, Kelvin Stevenson Memorial Church, 62 Belmont St, G20 6JR. The Sixty Steps Preservation Trust is holding a special community meeting to discuss forthcoming repairs and other project work affecting the Sixty Steps. Any comments or questions, please email mail@sixtysteps.org.uk.

  • Wednesday 25 January, 6.00–8.30pm, Ashgill Recreation Centre, 342 Ashgill Road, G22 7HW. Community budgeting event: Local people are being asked to make decisions on money spent on projects seeking funding (up to £10,000) within their area. Come along and have your say! Click the picture on the right to download a poster for the event with full details.

  • Thursday 26 JanuarySaturday 4 February. The Mackintosh Church is hosting 6 events as part of this year's Celtic Connections festival. It's a lovely venue, so well worth checking out if you haven't visited it before.
Finally, for cyclists: a new bike path has been opened connecting the north of Glasgow with the city centre. The path is along Baird’s Brae and joins Applecross Basin on the north side of the Forth and Clyde Canal with Garscube Road.
