Food


Thanks so much to all of you who've been responding to my updates... it's like getting mail! And I have always loved to get mail.  Makes me feel important. :)

The food here is SO good.  Ramen & miso soup with home-made noodles, poached salmon, deliciously prepared vegetables like brussel sprouts and asparagus, a great salad bar, and fresh-baked bread and home-made dessert every evening.  Banana cream pie, lemon cake, frosted brownies, reeses pb cup bars...  It is seriously a good thing that I walk everywhere I go.  And I'm working out every morning.  I'm not sure it's going to be enough.

Continuing the pairs thing from yesterday, here is another set.  I don't feel the image does these justice-- they're really vibrant in person.  24x24 inches.
Another pair, this time 30x30.  I wanted to play with undertones, so decided to paint two very similar pieces with opposite toning.
And here they are.  I like them both, but I ultimately decided not to pain over all the undertones in the one on the right.  See the image below for a closer look...
I took a cloth and rubbed the tone into the canvas and softened some of the edges of textured paint.  I really like how it turned out, and it also gave me some ideas for another series that has been percolated, which is to paint a sketch (fairly developed) onto a toned canvas.  Sort of quasi-mono-chromatic.  We'll see!
Final piece of the day, another 24x24 inch canvas.
