 IUP JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Department of Music will host the seventeenth annual IUP Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 16, 2017, beginning at 7:00 pm in Fisher Auditorium. The IUP Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. James Flowers, and the IUP Jazz Ensemble, led by Dr. Kevin Eisensmith, will perform. The featured guest artist for the concert is trombonist David Gibson. Gibson resides in New York City, where he performs with and composes for many diverse artists, including Roy Hargrove, Orrin Evans, and George Gee, in addition to teaching at the New School University and Columbia University. Tickets are: Regular: $10; Seniors (60+): $8; and I-Card holders, students, and children: $6.

IUP Trombone Day
Ensembles will sing in IUP’s beautiful Fisher Auditorium and be professionally recorded. In addition, choirs will be provided written and verbal feedback from IUP faculty Dr. Ryan Beeken and Dr. Craig Denison. Each choir will receive direct instruction via an on-stage clinic. This year’s distinguished guest is Andrew Dahan. Andrew Dahan is the current head of Music Education at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he teaches courses in music education, including Foundations and Principals of Music Education, Choral Music Methods, Practicum in Music Education, and Seminar in Student Teaching. Dahan also founded and currently directs the IWU Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
