Patty Hajdu new Minister of Labour

Congratulations to Lakehead alum, Patty Hajdu (BA'96/HBA'07) on her recent appointment as Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour.  The Thunder Bay-Superior North MP was one of several Ministers shuffled by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in January.
We recently interviewed Patty about the change and asked her to reflect on her time at Lakehead.  Read her interview
here.

Lakehead University will once again be hosting the annual PDAC Alumni & Friends Breakfast during the 2017 PDAC conference!
Last year, we were pleased to welcome a crowd of almost 100 attendees consisting of alum, current students, dignitaries, and Lakehead delegates.  We shared updates on Lakehead University, the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Mining and Exploration, announced a new scholarship established by SNC-Lavalin and heard a presentation from Dr. Karl Skogstad- the Derek and Joan Burney Postdoctoral Fellow.

We invite you to join Dr. Brian J.R. Stevenson, President and Vice-Chancellor, for the PDAC Alumni & Friends Breakfast on March 6th at the InterContinental Toronto Centre.  Be sure to visit our booth in the MTCC South Building (Booth #946).

Approximately 90 Lakehead University Alumni, parents, and friends were in attendance at the Mattamy Centre on Friday January 6, 2017 to watch our Women's and Men's Thunderwolves Basketball teams play against the Ryerson Rams.  While they played hard and fought tirelessly, they fell short with a 88-64 loss.  Although they didn't win, the team coaches and athletes very much appreciated our large and cheerful fans!  To view more of our game, click on the Photo Gallery.
Over the holiday break, the Alumni office hosted a handful of international students in their private hockey box as we played host to the Nipissing Lakers on December 29 and 30 at the Fort William Gardens.  Crowds were treated to two straight 4-3 wins, and it gave students who weren't able to travel home for the break an opportunity to take in an exciting hockey game (with great views!)
