ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS

It's Commitment Time - Please be sure to bring in your commitment forms, for each child entering grades 1-12, by February 28th. A deposit is required only for students entering Preschool, Kindergarten, Grades 1, 2, 7 and 8. For more information and to download forms, please visit: www.vws.ca/20172018-tuition-commitment/

Thank You - Rochelle Chapman, Trish Dayal, Adeline Dubreuil-Mahé, Lynn Ross, Angela Wang, Bill Wareham, Jenny Woodfield and Darla Chibi at Waves Coffee House for your support, delicious baking and generous donations at our Open House last Saturday!

Attendance - Please remember to call when your child is sick. For the Grade School, leave a message on 604-985-7435 x 5; in the Early Childhood Centre use extensions: 101 Preschool, 102 Plum Cottage, 103 Red Rose, 104 Sunflower; and at the High School call: 604-986-2922.

Parking - Please do not park in the fire lane, bus lane or in front of the access to the playground. You may drop off or pick up your child in front of the school, but do not keep your car idling and do not park in the Fire/Bus Lane. Emergency vehicles need access to this lane at all times. Thank you. The neighbours driveways also need to be respected. Please remember to park the legal distance from their driveways. They have informed the school that they will call the by-law officers if there are any infractions in this regard.

Lost and Found - There is quite an accumulation of warm and cozy jackets, mitts, scarves, and all other manner of clothing in the Lost and Found box. Please check this on a regular basis. If not claimed, everything will go to the local goodwill store during the February break.

Gift Card Update - The deadline to place orders for February is next Monday, January 23.
Pancakes and Waffles
Last Thursday night our Grad Class and the Grade 12's from Seattle Waldorf slept over at the school after an afternoon of skating and getting to know each other. More photos will be posted to our Web Gallery in the coming days.

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD

Our Board of Trustees meeting last Wednesday focused almost exclusively on the topic of Development. Chloe Gow-Jarrett led a workshop-style session to help us align ourselves on a vision of the role a Community & Resource Development Manager (C&RDM) would play at the Vancouver Waldorf School. We explored the needs of our school at this time in the area of development, looking back at the past and creating a vision for the future. We hope to finalize a job description with the goal to approve it at next month’s Board meeting, and then posting the position as soon as possible.
~ Eric Doherty, VWSS Board Chair

Keep an eye on the VWS calendar - there are many fantastic community events to come! Also a reminder during this nasty cold, flu, and winter tummy bug season to please wash your hands frequently. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
