Formerly located on Main Street in downtown Cottage Grove, the museum has been closed for a year while staff moved it to the newly renovated Boots and Sandals Square Dance Barn.

The museum's collection of photographs, art, tools, rocks and other artifacts pays tribute to the area's gold mining history. Special visitors and events such as gold panning will be available at the opening event.

Also open for the event is the Cottage Grove Historical Society and South Lane Ballet Academy. All three organizations reside in the two-story red building, which can easily be spotted across from the popular Bohemia Park on South 10th in Cottage Grove. It still sports the historic "Boots and Sandals" sign complete with square dancers.  For more information contact the museum office at (541)942-5022.
