CBU in the News

President John Smarrelli
(pictured above with Eli Savoie of 87.7FM / Sports 56) made his radio sportscasting debut doing color commentary for the CBU women's basketball game on January 12 and the men's game on January 14. Both games were Buccaneer victories — coincidence? A new career?

Dr. Colby Taylor
's run on the TV game show "Jeopardy!" last week — in which he won his first game and lost the second, walking away with $18,399 — was covered in several outlets in the local media. The Commercial Appeal ran three articles and WREG Channel 3 aired the report above. (After incorrectly answering "Hey Jude" to the final question on his first day — the name of the Beatles' song led by Ringo Starr that charted the highest — Dr. Taylor said his students reminded him of it the next morning. "They all came in humming "Yellow Submarine," he told the CA.)

High Ground News published an article on the upcoming opening of CBU's new Rosa Deal School of Arts building in the Development News section of its January 11 edition. The article, entitled "CBU's oldest building replaced by top-modern school of the arts," features quotes from Bill Ferguson of ANF Architects.
Coach Mike Neinaber, who recently chalked up his 300th win at CBU, was the subject of a profile entitled "CBU’s Mike Nienaber Enjoys the Wins, Survives the Losses" in The Memphis Daily News on January 13. Also quoted in the profile are Bucs Adam Dieball and Jeff Larkin.
CBU's partnership with Zipcar was covered in a report on Local 24 News on January 11. "Christian Brothers University Partners With Car Sharing Program" featured an inetrview with Chad Lassiter (Recreation Coordinator).
