2011 Calendar

The calendar of events for the remainder of the year is now available. Be sure to check out the plethora of great offerings and get your spot reserved today! The "Calendar" Tab is now located on the main menu bar, per some of your requests for easier access. Also, the calendar features a new and improved format for your viewing pleasure.
 

The Fun We've Had . . . 

Photos and other highlights that used to appear in "The Fun We've Had" section of the newsletter can now be seen on the MRHT Facebook page. The MRHT Facebook page is also a fabulous resource for staying up to date on current articles and topics of interest within the horse industry as well as a source for training tips and other helpful tidbits. Don't miss out!

Policy Reminders

Please be reminded of the following MRHT Policies:

Invoice Payment
Students will receive a monthly statement on the first (1st) day of each month via email. Such statements shall be due and payable upon presentation by either cash or check. If payment is received after the 5th day of said month a $25.00 late fee will be assessed, plus a finance charge of 1% per month (12% annually) on all accounts 30 days past due. 

Cancellation Policy
If the student needs to cancel a lesson, please do so 24 hours in advance. Lessons cancelled with less than 24-hour notice, except in the event of extreme weather, are subject to lesson fee. 
 

Boarders' Bulletin

 Please deworm your horse with Ivermectin by the 7th of this month and leave the box, marked with your horse's name, on the staff desk.

Saturday February 12, 19 and 26th from 12pm - 1pm
Continue your study of the Horsemanship 101 concepts and refine your skills in preparation for transferring your partnership to the saddle in Horsemanship 201.
 


Horsemanship 101: Communication & Partnership Through Groundwork—


Saturdays, March 5th - April 2nd (5 weeks) from 10am - 1pm.

 

This course provides the foundation from which to build a harmonious and long-lasting partnership with your horse. Participants will learn the groundwork and leadership skills necessary to establish a relationship based on mutual respect and trust. There will be extensive discussion on equine psychology and herd behavior, the knowledge of which enables you to communicate using the horse's natural language. You will learn how to be a clear and trustworthy leader for your horse while deepening your self-awareness. This course is designed for those who wish to build or sharpen their groundwork skills, to enhance their overall relationship with their horse, or to discover the joy of horsemanship for the first time.

 


Horsemanship 201: Communication & Partnership Through Riding—


Friday, May 6th - Sunday, May 9th

This course will take your relationship to the next level and solidify a respectful, willing, and connected partnership between you and your horse. You will learn how to use your knowledge of the equine language to increase your horse's confidence and curiosity, empowering them to tackle advanced groundwork and more challenging obstacles. You will continue to hone your awareness of intention and timing as you prepare to take these skills into the saddle. Safe grooming techniques and proper saddling will also be covered, as will the development of a balanced and independent seat, which allows you to ride with consideration for your equine partner.

Read about Emily and some of the horses of Mountain Rose Horsemanship Training in February's EQUUS magazine. Emily is featured as the trainer of Sophie, a rambunctious Appaloosa filly, in the story of "Saving Sophie" written by Amy Herdy. Stay tuned for more installments of "Saving Sophie" featuring Emily Johnson and photos from MRHT's very own Josh Levin throughout the year.

Norman
Norman is a 6 year old Arabian gelding. He is an absolute gem of a horse and is as intelligent, willing, and good minded as they come. Norman is social, good natured and is such a pleasure to be in partnership with. Norman is still green under saddle, but is a very rapid study and has shown himself to be a perfect gentleman, both in his groundwork and out on the trail. Don't miss out on this exceptional horse! Adoption Fee: $1700


Summer
Summer is a 21 year old Arabian mare. She is gentle, friendly and very willing to please. She is a quick study and has a terrific desire for partnership with a steady and reliable human. Summer has been ridden both english and western and is ready to be your sweet natured, inquisitive, trail companion. Adoption fee: $600
