The Willgoss Choral Composition Prize encourages and promotes the creation of an original work for unaccompanied choir. The Prize winner will receive a cash prize of $AUD3000 in addition to the opportunity to have his/her Score performed by the Burgundian Consort in its annual evening recital in September 2017.

The Kennedy Centre Office of VSA and Accessibility is now accepting applications for the 2017 VSA International Young Soloists Competition. This program is open to musicians with disabilities ages 14-25. Soloists and ensembles of any instrument or genre including classical, jazz, hip-hop, rock.

Big Sky Girls – Songwriting Mentorship For Young Regional Women

An initiative of Brisbane music company Sugarrush Music, big Sky Girls will see ten young female songwriters from across Queensland matched with established artists through a free six-month mentorship program aimed at building talent and establishing music careers.

Renowned early childhood music education expert Dr John Feierabend brings his research-based pedagogical approach to Australia, with First Steps In Music, a music and movement curriculum for teachers of children from birth through the primary years. Be inspired, empowered and equipped to assist your students to become “tuneful, beautiful and artful” and help awaken the musical potential in every child.

Paper submissions close 31 January
Ludo2017 organisers of are accepting proposals for research presentations at the sixth annual Easter conference. All proposals on sound and music in games are welcomed, with particular interest in papers that support the theme of ‘Performance’, in the broadest sense. The conference will be on 20 – 22 April at Bath Spa University, UK.

Delivered by the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres (VAPAC) and Regional Arts Victoria with support from Creative Victoria, this annual event connects performing arts companies with regional and international presenters.
10 February – 5 March
The Festival promises to deliver, ‘art without borders, inviting you to travel to extraordinary places’. This year the program features more than 700 artists performing in 180 events, with themes of migration, reconciliation, accessibility, and empathy.

The 16th annual festival celebrating improvised, spontaneous and experimental music arrives in Sydney this week. Over four afternoons and evenings, musicians, dancers, sound artists, and other exploratory musicians will showcase their works. Get amongst the weird and wonderful sounds on offer.
 21 January, Melbourne
Sugar Mountain is annual single-day festival in Melbourne showcasing the best in contemporary music, visual art and new media, focusing on the natural meeting points between different mediums.
23 January, Foundry 616, Sydney
The Sydney Jazz Orchestra is the embodiment of cool with a trademark of precision and balance. The band moves easily from delicate , to lyrical to powerful assertiveness – muscular even, in its delivery of challenging and creative charts.
 17 February, Melbourne
Acclaimed Samoan/Aotearoa (New Zealand) artist Rosanna Raymond with Maori, Pasifika and Aboriginal collaborators in Lukautim Solwara (look out for the ocean) come together for a one-night-only event of performance, art and adornment.
