The Measure of a Man Workshop

Just for Men

Saturday, January 28, 8:30–11:00am in the Commons

True masculinity isn’t measured by strength but by twenty biblical guidelines. What are God’s terms that a man should live by? Gene Getz answers that question by drawing principles from the apostle Paul’s letters to Timothy and Titus.

Discover God’s standards to be a father, a husband, and a mentor to other men. In this workshop, Gene tells you how to make the grade.

This workshop will give ideas for real-life application and words of inspiration in the most practical terms to men of every generation.

Imagine writing a book in 1974. Then, consider that your book has never gone out of print. People keep on buying, reading and applying it.

Welcome to Measure of a Man with Gene Getz! Gene wrote the book in 1974. The principles have been used by men around the world every year for the last 43 years, non-stop.

Registration is $20 for each adult. $10 for each student. The Workshop includes a copy of The Measure of a Man book and a light breakfast.

Register here or enroll at the door.

DTOX—College & Young Adults

The College & Young Adults ministry exists to liberate college-aged adults from a visionless life, blind ambition, and self-isolating guilt. Only Jesus can heal the source of these problems and address their symptoms. To that effect, we are launching DTOX, a new College & Young Adults venue meeting Sundays 11:30–11:45am in the Commons that tackles practical issues college aged adults face.

Likewise, for those undergoing spiritual oppression in these areas we are launching our Praise & Worship service Sundays 5:00–6:00pm also in the Commons. It is for freedom that Christ has set you free! Receive that freedom with us!

Nominating Elders

Annually we nominate Elders in January and affirm them in May. I Timothy 3:1–6 says the qualifications for an Elder are:

This saying is trustworthy: “If someone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a good work.” The overseer then must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher, not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not contentious, free from the love of money. He must manage his own household well and keep his children in control without losing his dignity. But if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church of God? He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. And he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap.

Our Constitution says:
The Nominating Committee shall be appointed annually by the Elder Board and shall consist of a chairman, a vice-chairman and five members, including representatives from the Elder Board, the ministry staff and the congregation at large. The committee chairman may ask to increase the size of the committee to help in the workload or to provide knowledge required to fulfill the committee’s charter.

We invite any member of EvFree to submit names for future Elders to eldernominations@evfreefullerton.com. Thank you for your prayerful participation in nominating Elders for our church.
