THE BIG ONE
(scroll down for a lot of amazing photos)

OK I am calling this THE BIG ONE because I haven't had a newsletter update in a few months and we have had a lot of stuff going on and we have a lot of Praise and we need a lot of Prayer.

First I need to apologize for not updating our newsletter since Sept 28,2016 and I need to apologize for not sending a Thanksgiving newsletter or a Christmas newsletter or a New Years newsletter.....so please forgive me....hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving, had a very Merry Christmas and you are currently having a Happy New Year!

So here goes.....

Praises for Pokot!
  • Praise that we were blessed to distribute 100 (yes 100!!) solar powered audio bibles in the Pokot language.
  • Praise that we are still able to have church at Mt Paka the first Sunday of every month and more praise that they want church. We have two services...one in the morning on top of the mountain and one in the afternoon at the bottom.
  • Praise that our Board Member Pastor John and his wife Ann (both are Pokot and speak Pokot) are building relationships with the community at Mt Paka.
Prayers for Pokot
  • Pray that we get more audio bibles to distribute. We gave out 100 and can easily give out more. Each audio Bible cost about $40.00. Please donate and send a note stating "for pokot bibles". 100% will go towards the bibles.
  • Pray for the growth of the church. That a good solid spiritual, physical and emotional foundation is laid and that Jesus is the cornerstone.
  • Pray for water, water, water and a new bore hole pump. The old pump has broken and we are desperately in need of a new pump for water. Due to the water temp coming out of the ground a special pump has to be ordered. Currently there is NO water. We are taking as much as we can fit in our vehicles when we go for the church services.
  • Pray for the community as a whole. There has been a lot of fighting and unrest due to cattle rustling and their have been several incidents involving the police. Also the area is remote, communication is not reliable so rumors are spread easily...lots of spiritual warfare.
Praises for Prison (Regeneration Program)
  • Praise for the new Orientation class that started Dec 6 and the new Regeneration class. We have a total of 17 men in the Regeneration Program
  • Praise that we have started the Sociogram (group therapy where each man is held accountable). This has been very challenging due to tribal and cultural issues but has proven very successful in the last few weeks. The Holy Spirit is in control and moving!
  • Praise for the trust that is being built between staff, inmates, chaplains and officers. Jesus is King!
  • Praise for our visits to Tambach and Kabarnet Prisons duing the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. We were able to give out bread and milk to every inmate (about 300).
  • Praise for the Uzima Water Filters we were able to give out at Nakuru Men's and Womens Prison, Tambach and Kabarnet Prisons. We also gave water filters in the remote areas of Hakati and Churro.
  • Praise that we have a YWAM DTS visiting us January 16-23. They will be helping us in all aspects of ministry from visiting prisons to helping at the school.
Prayers for Prison (Regeneration Program)
  • Prayer for the Orientation class as they begin to feel loved and safe. That Jesus introduces himself to them in powerful personal ways.
  • Prayer for the Regeneration class as they begin the journey of writing forgiveness letters.
  • Prayer that the Holy Spirit leads and ministers and no one else.
  • Prayer for safe travels and effective ministry as we visit other prisons.
Praises for School
  • Praise for the graduation that was held on Nov 4, 2016 . We had 19 graduate from the Top Class and move on to primary school.
  • Praise for the new school year that started January 3, 2017. We currently have 45 students enrolled and more are arriving everyday as families are returning from holiday travel.
  • Praise that we have the same staff returning: teachers Mary, Rosaline, Nora and cook Lucy.
  • Praise for the feeding program. We continue to meet all of our budgetary goals for feeding the kids a healthy breakfast and lunch each day. Also, some of the parents are involved in supplying fruit for the school.
  • Praise for assistance we have received in making sure each child has a uniform for the school year.
  • Praise for the Christmas gifts that were given to every student. Commerce FUMC Preschool sponsored a goodie bag for each child and each bag was accompanied by a personal note and photo...Blessed!
  • Praise that we have the YWAM DTS coming next week to show the love of Christ to all the kids, staff and community.
Prayer for School
  • Prayer the school year that we will shine God's glory in the community of Njoro. Prayer that Jesus' presence will be seen and felt by the entire community.
  • Prayer for the kids returning from holiday.
  • Prayer for the health and well being of the teachers and cook.
  • Prayer for land so we can build a new school and expand. We also are praying for a garden to help with the feeding program.

Thanks and blessings to you,
Joel, Tara and Caroline
