Rustenburg was named as one of the top three public schools in the category "Academic Excellence" at a ceremony held at Leeuwenhof on Thursday.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MATRICS AND STAFF OF 2016!
What a privilege to start the year at Rustenburg Girls’ High School celebrating excellent NSC results.  It is with grateful thanks that I congratulate all the staff who, over the years, have played a role in each of these girls achieving their potential.  It shows what dedication from staff, hard work from girls and support from parents does to enhance achievement.  This year there was not a single subject with an average below 71.5%, which complements the 100% pass rate.  Our congratulations go to Hannah Clayton for her 100% in Mathematics and third position overall in the country with an average of 97.5%.

A warm welcome to all our new pupils and parents. I’m sure that it will not take long for you to feel right at home.  As a school our aim is to work in partnership with parents to ensure that the girls achieve their full potential.

I’d also like to extend a welcome to our new members of staff: Ms Lindsay De Klerk in the English department, Mr Murray Buitendag in Music, Ms Erica van As in Afrikaans, Ms Lynette Jacobs in the Consumer Studies department and Boarder Mistress Sarah Verster. Mr Alister Penny joined us in the middle of November as an ICT administrator and Mr Jaco Goosen has taken over the reins of the Music department.  Ms Christine Steenekamp has moved from teaching to the front office to be our Receptionist and Mr Wihan Neethling is exploring an ICT Specialist Educator role, to assist in our future ICT developments.  We are also proud to be a part of the PGCE learnership programme with Ms Kelly Crowster joining the Consumer Studies department;  we wish her all the best in this venture.

A big thank you to Ms Susan Schnetler for the wonderful job she has done holding the reins over the past year.  She has humbly and very ably juggled two jobs and made the transition into Rustenburg very easy for me.  Ms Schnetler’s dedication to your daughter’s well-being and success is unrelenting and I look forward to working together with her.

While the school takes a rest over the Christmas period, there is a lot of activity on campus.  Mr Myles Siebrits and his very able team have once again spent the time ensuring that all the grounds and buildings are in beautiful working order, so that our atmosphere for learning is the best it can be.  Thank you to all the maintenance and cleaning staff for the hours of tireless energy that have been poured into the school over this time.

My family and I are all very excited to be a part of the vibrant Rustenburg family.  With only three South African weeks under the belt, we have been made to feel exceptionally welcome and appreciate the kindness shown by members of the community.  I look forward to getting to know the girls and sharing in their successes with you.

Warm regards

Michael Gates
Principal
Traffic and parking on the Rustenburg Campus

Parents are reminded not to park on yellow lines or in the road next to parking bays, or in such a way that obstructs the flow of traffic (even temporarily).

Grade 8 & 9 students must be dropped off and collected at the back of the school, near the tennis courts. Grade 10-12 students must be dropped off and collected at the front of the school. This will assist in the smooth flow of traffic around campus.

Please be aware that the pedestrian gate to Grosvenor Road and the sub-way under Liesbeek Parkway are both open from 7:10 - 7:50 in the morning and for 30 minutes end of the school day to allow for off-site drop-off and collection of your daughter.
