Meet “Sholpan”. Her brother-in-in-law, “Arystan”, is a new Believer in Kazakhstan, but she lost touch with him after her husband died.
One day Sholpan opened her door to discover Arystan standing there. He had brought “Joseph”, our Central Asian teaching pastor, to meet her. After a happy reunion, Arystan shared his testimony and invited Sholpan to church. She refused because of her adherence to her own religion.
The conversation continued with Arystan and Sholpan butting heads about religion. Joseph spoke up. Using logic, historical fact, and words from Sholpan’s own sacred text, Joseph led her through a series of questions, clearly underlining her own concerns.
Then Joseph introduced her to Isa, the Lord Jesus Christ, and showed her the Hope of the Good News. Joseph’s gentle teaching reached three people that day. Arystan learned putting Christianity in the context of someone’s own religion and culture was a better way to share his faith. Sholpan, who was quite knowledgeable of her own faith, began to understand the superiority of the God of the Bible. Zhibek, Sholpan’s 23-year old daughter, was so moved she has continued to stay in touch with Joseph and asks for prayer.
Joseph is training up witnesses and home pastors like Arystan all over Central Asia. He supports his students through prayer, training classes and mentoring. However, to be able to have the time to do this, he needs financial support from GHM. It takes $700 a month to keep Joseph in the field. Please pray about helping us support him with monthly donations.
What an amazing year we had in 2016! Standing here in the New Year of 2017, we can hardly believe all the miracles God performed for us in the last twelve months. From the curing of a headache on the set of Sweet Conversations, to strategic introductions to people and ministries, to a successful matching funds challenge, God met GHM at the point of every need. You can read more about last year and our hopes for the coming year on our blog.
However, it takes a lot of prayer to allow us to keep going through the doors God opens for us. On the first day of each month we post a new prayer page on our blog, hoping you’ll join us as a prayer partner. We hope you’ll click the bar below to go to the page and bookmark it to visit frequently.
At New Years, thousands of Azerbaijani-speaking Iranians pour over the Azerbaijan border to visit family and friends. Baku, the capital city, is the destination for many. This year 522 traveling families were welcomed with free gift bags.
Nestled among the colorful, tasty offerings was the reason for the distribution: New Testaments and Micro SD cards filled with Christian resources that can be used in a phone or tablet. Also, each bag held a colorful flyer from Global Heart Ministries featuring information about our broadcasts and how to watch them.
If you receive our newsletter, The Global Heart Beat, then you may know your prayers and donations helped GHM and a ministry partner prepare these bags and distribute them. In fact, GHM sponsored 200 of the bags. Please pray these gifts will make an eternal difference to the families who received them. Though you may know our story well, one of our important jobs here at GHM is to continue introducing our ministry to new people. One of the ways we do that is through videos, not only because video is what we do, but also because many media experts recognize it as the most popular and most sharable form of communication in our digital world.
Here is a quick video you might want to share with your friends and family. The video below is a short, funny piece we shot at the last filming of Haynot Noni (Bread of Life), the Uzbek men’s testimony and cooking show. Enjoy!
