It's a New Year and the hectic time of year when we have to shop for back to school items, buy new uniforms and attempt to cover Multiple School books with contact .Some of you may have Children moving up to High School this year or starting School for the first time or the kids are just moving up into a different grade at School. Here are some tips to help make the first day back a little bit easier.

1. Contact teachers ahead of time to discuss where your child was at the end of the last school year, and additionally what activities and progress you’ve made throughout the summer. Communication is key!
2. Trust that your child will be fine on the first day. The energy you give off will greatly impact how your child perceives their first day back to school. Stay cool, calm, and collect.
3. If it’s your child’s first day at a brand new school, be sure to schedule a visit before the first day. Familiarizing yourselves with the school will help in building that level of comfort. Take a video or pictures, then practice what’s where at home!
4. There’s no lying that during the summer months we all love to sneak in those couple hours of extra sleep in the mornings. In the weeks approaching school, try and begin waking up earlier and earlier. Adjusting your child’s sleep schedule is so important. This way, you can avoid any sleepy, grumpy, or over-tired children during the first week of school.
5. With the approach of the school year, all parents worry about their child making friends or the possibility of bullying. Review with your child how to react if being bullied. Make them feel comfortable about talking to you regarding this subject.
