January 6th Newsletter Overview

Village Hall Closed Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The Village Hall will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Refuse collection and recycling are not affected by the holiday.

Years of Service Award

During the 2016 Village Holiday Party, Mayor Woodard honored the following four people for their years of service to the Village.  Considering that an average worker may change jobs seven or eight times during their career, we are truly fortunate to have many dedicated long-term workers who contribute to the running of the Village on a daily basis.

We would like to recognize:
  • Joan Mangione - 5 year
  • James Landon - 5 years
  • Tim Eighmey - 10 years
  • Jerry Wright - 15 years
Thank you for all your loyalty and dedication!

Ithaca Town and County Taxes

Just a friendly reminder that Ithaca County taxes are due and should have arrived in your mailbox early last week. For information regarding the County Tax Breakdown: www.tompkinscountyny.gov or call 607-274-5551

Smart Meter Coming Soon

Coming soon to this space, the Energy Smart Community.

The Energy Smart Community who's initiatives are aligned with Governor Cuomo's Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) goals, will enable Ithaca and Tompkins County to get 12,000 new advanced electric meters and supporting data systems which will allow NYSEG to monitor power coming from rooftop solar installations and other customer-owned power applications. The new equipment will help keep the grid stable and allocate energy revenues among customers and the utility, and allow the utility to test customers' responses to real-time power prices that bounce up and down during the day as demand fluctuates.
