Inspiration for your home

Decorating after the holidays can be a challenge and an opportunity. My home always feels a little bare after the Christmas decorations are put away. I like to live with the bareness for a few days before I start putting things back into our living spaces. The emptiness is somehow refreshing after all the clutter of the holidays. We have an opportunity to put things back slowly, change things up, and think about each item as it is returned to our living space. I ask myself these questions. Do I still like this? Would it look better in a different room? What can I put with it that would be unexpected? You can ask yourself similar questions as you slowly put things away.

One of my favorite winter decorations are white tulips. They speak to me of winter snow and spring hopefulness. Their simplicity is like a fresh start, a symbol of the whiteness of winter, and a reminder that spring is coming. They are an easy way to brighten your environment, lift your mood, and make you smile when you walk into a room.
Here are several different ways to style tulips. Note the different types of vases and how the tulips are placed in the containers.
These bouquets are not just for the dining room table. How about placing a few on your night stand or on your bathroom counter?
I'm inspired to polish an old silver pitcher that has been hiding in a cupboard for years. I think white tulips and silver anything would be a wonderful match for the winter months! What do you have hiding in your cupboard that would make the perfect container for tulips? I'd love to hear what you find!

My very talented friend, Norma Merrett, is developing a line of recipes for Healthy Tokyo using Matcha green tea powder. I am in love with the vibrant color it produces. This is truly where art meets food! Find Norma's Matcha Hummus recipe at Norma's Corner. Watch for more recipes at the same link in the next few weeks.

We are working on some new patterns for spring. Our veggie prints, Mr. Turnip, Miss Fig, and Madame Carrot will soon be available on linen aprons and tea towels!
We survived a snow-pocalypse this week in "the Couve". A record snowfall of 13" overnight which is very unusual here. Everything was covered with fresh white snow and I loved it! What a great excuse to sit in front of the fire and "work from home".
The sun is shining today as I'm writing this making the world outside look fresh, and sparkly, and enchanting. When I got up this morning I saw the moon set and the sun rise. I'd say that is a pretty spectacular day.
Have a wonderfully inspired Sunday!
