This is traditionally the time of year when we take stock and make New Year's resolutions. So often, our goals are vaguely or negatively worded, which can set us up for failure in short order. Be specific and positive with wording when setting a goal. Creating new "good for you!" habits takes time! |

Ask the Organizer!
Q: What kind of storage supplies should I buy in my goal to get better organized this year?
A: Initially? None.
That's right, don't buy anything. Why? Because you don't know what you're storing, or how much you're storing until after you've tackled an organizing project.
Knowing what and how much you're storing helps determine what you need, if anything.
With storage bins, in addition to "how many?" you should also ponder these options:
- Solid color or clear?
- Utilitarian, or part of a room's decor?
- With a lid, or no lid?
- Stackable or not necessary?
- How heavy will the contents be?
I know, I know, matching bins and baskets look awesome in the store, and they're just...so...tempting! That's the retailer's goal: to get you to buy, buy, buy. But before you shop, know what your needs are.
