Human Relations Sunday
8:30 Worship Traditional with Communion
9:30 Sunday School (Children and Adults)
10:30 Worship Traditional

This coming Sunday is Human Relations Day and is observed the Sunday before Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday observance. This day calls the Church to recognize the rights of all God’s children to realize their potential and sacred worth as human beings in relationship with one another. You can find out more here

As new leaders and committee/team members take their role in this new year, may we be mindful of this sacred relationship we have with each other as the body of Christ. May we as a church do all that we can to support the leaders and committee/team members of our church by prayerfully offering the following:

  1. Pray for them and our church.
  2. Respect each person as a gift from God.
  3. Offer grace and understanding.
  4. Offer support with encouraging words.
  5. Offer helping hands.
  6. Offer ideas.
  7. Offer constructive criticism with carefully chosen words.
  8. Be sensitive.
  9. Listen attentively.
  10. Offer empathy.
  11. Be self-aware of our own emotions.
  12. Put ourselves in the other person’s position.

This new year, may we seek God’s help to guide us in words and actions to make our relationships, our lives, our churches, our workplaces, and our communities places of grace and hope. May we truly reflect Christ to the world around us. Amen

If you would like a copy of our church leaders and committee members for this year, you may download a copy from our website. You may also download a copy of the roles and responsibilities of each of the committees.

This past Sunday, we recognized the Baptism of our Lord. We were also privileged to celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Baptism of a child while reaffirming our own. Our message was from Acts 10:34-43. This next Sunday our message will come from 1 Corinthians 1:1-9.

See you Sunday!

Small groups are extremely important in the life of the church. If you are currently not connected to any small group, consider joining one. If the existing groups do not fit your interest and/or your schedule, consider starting a new one. I highly encourage you to get involved this new year with God and your church. Stay spiritually nourished, healthy, connected, and encouraged.

It is also important that we have a record of the numbers attending our weekly and/or monthly small group gatherings. In the kitchen, you will find a clipboard with a report, please fill out the report at the time of each meeting. These will include: bible study groups, women’s groups, men’s groups, children’s nights, choir groups, Al-Anon & A.A., etc. Your cooperation is much appreciated and important.

Children's Ministry
Huge thank you to Heather and Graham Lair who are helping out with our Children's Ministry on Thursday evening. This week, we had around 9 children participate in watching a movie, eating popcorn, playing games, and making a mess. But not to worry, all have been cleaned up. :)  It appeared that everyone had a great time. Please be in prayer for this important ministry of the church.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
This important ministry of the church is back in gear for the new year. If you would like to take part and be in fellowship with these ladies (men are welcome), just show up at church on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 2 to 3:00  p.m. The prayer shawl ministry under the leadership of Vada Rose have made some beautiful warm hats. If you know someone that could use a hat in the cold, please take one or two. They are located in the narthex.

Christmas Decorations
Thank you so much to everyone who helped to put away our Christmas decorations. I know this is hard work, so many thanks to everyone for taking down the Christmas decorations inside the church, the angels and lights outside.

Trustees
We are very grateful for our trustees who help not only maintain the physical appearance of our church, but also in helping with our safety with proper lighting, security cameras, walkways, cleaning gutters, directional signage, and so many other things that we often are unaware of and take for granted. Thank you Trustees for all of your hard work. We appreciate you.

Canned Food Drive
Many thanks to everyone who have been contributing to our canned food drive. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Keep Our Earth Clean
We need volunteers to take our recycles to the Recycling Center here in Taylor. It will only require being taken one or two times each month. Please call the church office to sign up for your month.
