I'm having a great time working on writing patterns. One of the most exciting parts is to see what people create from my designs. Last year I participated in a block blog hop and my Watermelon Plate block was also featured in the 2016 Quilter's Planner. In November, Jaime chose an altered, rainbow version of my block for our bee blocks. I love the results! The block tutorial is available on my blog.

Palettes featuring Greenery
|
|
It's no secret that I love color. When Pantone announced Greenery as the color of the year, I was excited. I find it more inspiring than the colors chosen the past few years. I had a great time playing with possible palettes. These four palettes use Kona solids. I chose Sprout or Chartreuse (in the centers) as the closest matches to Greenery. These palettes could easily be used with or without the neutral I've included.

|
(1) Sunny, Canary, Torch, Chartreuse, Tomato and Eggshell.
(2) Turquoise, Grasshopper, Poppy, Water, Sprout, Watermelon and Black.
(3) Gumdrop, Punch, Lemon, Creamsicle, Chartreuse, Azalea and Ash.
(4) Cactus, Parrot, Leprechaun, Sprout, Prussian and Sand.

Goals and Resolutions
It’s January, the time of year that many of us like to think about making some life changes. But it’s also the end of January, which means that some of us are already feeling disillusioned about our goals from a few weeks back. One of the ways that I stay on top my my quilting goals is by quarterly posts listing all of my projects in progress. I like having it all in one place. I’d love to hear what your creative goals are for 2017.

I'm enjoying reading through Sew Mama Sew's great series with Reflections & Predictions from a variety of sewing industry leaders.
I can't get enough of these adorable Strawberry Blocks from Molli Sparkles' Honey Pot Bee. Check out the adorable pillows Jayne made with her blocks.
I love Ellin Larimer's use of bold colors, especially in her quilts Transitions One and Rising from this gallery.
Do you have a lego expert in your house? Here's a great tutorial for a lego sewing machine. What a great addition to any sewing room!

What's Happening on Sarah Goer Quilts
|
|
The big, big news is that I've moved onto www.sarahgoerquilts.com. And, my tech support department (aka my wonderful husband) has everything redirecting, so any links to the old site will land on the new site. I even updated Bloglovin' and moved my follower list onto my new URL. So if you're following my posts there, you're all set. :-)
Last week, I put my new Shape by Shape free motion quilting book to good use finishing my Star Light Star Dark quilt. This past weekend I finished my second Project QUILTING challenge, interpreting the theme Carolina Lily. I have three other projects on my design wall at the moment, including adorable Hazel the Hedgehog blocks.

Happy New Year! We're about three weeks in and 2017 is already feeling full of change to me. I'm fired up about my first finished pattern, updates to the blog and launching my newsletter! Thank you for reading!
One of my big goals for the year is more tips and tutorials on the blog. I'd love to hear from you about where you struggle in your quilting, what technique or tool you'd like to try or anything you've always wondered about regarding sewing or quilting. Please hit reply if anything comes to mind!
I'm so happy to have you along for the beginning of my newsletter journey!
P.S. As a great big thank you for subscribing, I'm sharing my free baby quilt pattern, Knock Knock, with you! Download it today! (Fun fact: The pattern is titled Knock Knock because I was inspired by a door. Inspiration truly is everywhere!)
