Suture after home births
Chopping boards, roasting pans, dinner tables, nursing pillows and birth stools -
all these items were suggested in a discussion thread in our Facebook group as improvised work equipment for diagnostics and the suture of birth lacerations in the aftermath of a home birth. Peggy Seehafer sent this picture of a super handy set of portable stirrups used by her midwife colleagues in Hamburg, Germany:
Stirrups for home births
The original question regarding home births and suture was sent to us by mail from a midwife in Winnipeg, Canada. Her e-mail was forwarded to experts on home births and the question was posted on Facebook. Here, we got a lot of imaginative suggestions as well as a reminder that you may have to transfer the woman to a hospital to ensure optimal treatment of a severe laceration.

If you have any input on the subject, you can still contribute to the thread.
And please feel free to start any discussions of birth related subject in our group: GynZone - Fagligt netværk for gyn-obs or at our English page GynZone.
