Alumna receives international Emerging Sustainability Leader Award
 

Auburn University agriculture alumna and Kenya native Esther Ngumbi recently received the Emerging Sustainability Leader Award at the sixth World Sustainability Forum in Cape Town, South Africa. Ngumbi, along with a fellow recipient, split a $10,000 award sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute’s Sustainability Journal, an international scholarly publication covering environmental, cultural, economic and social sustainability.

Linking up with industry
 

Auburn University is joining forces with the world’s leading sports turf consultancy to initiate research and development programs throughout the U.S. sports surface market. The agreement aims to expand the U.S. soccer industry while enhancing Auburn's turfgrass and sports turf research facility.

Supporting Water Watch
 
From the Tennessee River to the Gulf, Alabama is known for its beautiful waters. That's why, on Feb. 21, Auburn University is inviting alumni and friends to support Alabama Water Watch, an organization that monitors Alabama rivers, lakes and streams to ensure they are safe from bacterial and chemical pollutants.

College of Agriculture honors 10 with Alumni Awards
 

Ten successful professionals who hold academic degrees from Auburn University’s College of Agriculture have been selected as the college’s most outstanding alumni for 2017. The 10, who will be honored this evening in Auburn, include the recipient of the 2017 Alumni Service Award and nine Alumni Award winners who were chosen by and represent the academic units and programs from which they earned their degrees.

How big is data in U.S. agriculture? Consider that one acre of corn can generate seven gigabytes of data. With approximately 93 million acres of the crop currently in production, that’s 145 million DVDs filled with information—from just one crop.

Students at Auburn University will have a new degree option next fall as the College of Agriculture offers a bachelor of science in applied biotechnology. The new major was approved by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education in December.

York Distinguished Lecturer.

Activities include sitting in on college classes, visiting our academic and research facilities, meeting faculty and current students and more. High school teachers and guidance counselors can also register to bring groups to the event.
