We hope this 2017 issue finds you well and ready for another wonderful year together.
I would like to sincerely thank the volunteers, donators, booth holders and numerous visitors that took part in the Christmas fair allowing us to fundraise 6,855 $. This shows the importance of solidarity, friendship and commitment of the Francophile community here in Houston.
What a treat on Jan 7th to taste and buy the delicious “galette des rois” kindly offered by LeNôtre Culinary Institute.
Myriam Frichet is our new Secretary. We are pleased to welcome her and wish her great success at EFGH.
2017 is announcing very promising events and projects such as pedagogical training, celebration of the Francophonie, cultural outings. We are anticipating an exceptional year 2017 and this will include:
- Field trip to MFAH on February 11th, 2017
- Fun Run at Eagles On The Rock Academy on February 18th, 2017
- Cooking Class at LeNôtre Culinary Institute on March 18th, 2017
- Francophonie Event at Memorial Elementary school on March 25th with TFAA (Texas French Alliance of the Arts), Mark White Elementary School, Eagles on the Rock and Wide School. It's all about African tales whispered between Houston and the Burkina.

Save the date! EFGH and Eagles On The Rock Academy organize a Fun Run on Saturday, February 18th. Please join us for a full day of fun!
An entertaining day for the whole family: 5k, 1k (run or walk, strollers), Potato sack races, face painting, balloon animals, Inflatable castles, Visit of a Firetruck, Delicious crepes to eat and lots of other treats!

I want to be a pastry Chef !
At the Culinary Institute LeNôtre, from 9:30 to 12pm, children will wear a chef toque and an apron and prepare a succulent recipe they will bring back home.
3 hours workshop: $60
EFGH, TFAA (Texas French Alliance of the Arts), Mark White Elementary School, Eagles on the Rock Academy and Wide School have a wonderful project with the children. It is all about African tales whispered between Houston and The Burkina.
WHAT ELSE AT EFGH?
Field Trip to the MFAH
On Saturday, February 11, students will visit the MFAH to practice their language skills outside of the classroom and in a highly artistic environment!
EFGH offers training for French teachers in a bilingual environment.
On January 12, Isabelle Ben Ismail, our teaching coordinator and head teacher, held a teacher training session with seven participants, who will alternate between theory courses and hands-on workshops in classes between January 12 and March 30.
Myriam Frichet is our new Secretary
We are happy to welcome Myriam, our new secretary. She is a veteran of the EFGH family, having previously filled the role of assistant. Welcome to the administrative team, Myriam!
La Maternelle Class
January 7th was the first day of school for the 4-year-old age group.
Students had lots of fun and made king's crowns, all while speaking French! It was wonderful to see their smiles at the end of the morning. Thank you to their teacher Anaïs Surface and their teacher assistant Edith Saltel for joining our pedagogical team.
Les Petits Ecoliers Class
We'd like to welcome Sandrine Faria, who is replacing Marie Crespel in the Les Petits Ecoliers class. We wish Marie and her daughter Lou a happy return to France!
