Beyond the Stage

We have some exciting Beyond the Stage sessions coming this week and next that you will not want to miss.

Monday, January 23rd we will welcome the Minnesota based Duniya Drum and Dance Group. This group exists to build a diverse community in support of the arts of the African Diaspora, specifically African drum and dance. Duniya strives to provide a platform for artists to offer educational opportunities to a broad audience in MN, the Midwest and the United States. Duniya Drum and Dance will be here one night to offer 30min cultural experiences to the cast.

Thursday January 26-31, we are thrilled to welcome In The Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre out of Minneapolis. For decades, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet & Mask Theatre has been engaging students of all ages and abilities all over the Midwest with its unique, interactive workshops. The highly skilled artist / instructors will work with your child to not only give exposure to puppet construction, but create a work of art that each participant can keep.

Off Book

As discussed with the cast by the production staff, the cast should be off book for Act 1 by Tuesday's rehearsal.

What does off book mean? This means that the cast should have their lines memorized and should know their songs and choreography. Once something has been taught, the cast member should learn their lines, practice their songs and dance at home so that at the next rehearsal they will be able to run through without their script or review and refine the songs and dances. This does not mean that the cast member has to be ready to perform right after the first time they learn a scene. We need them to have the basics down so we can improve during the next rehearsal.

Music Track Alternative

We have established an alternative folder that has the music tracks for people having a difficult time accessing the Dropbox. Choreography will remain in the Dropbox folder. Access through a browser is the best method for playing the videos. You will find the alternative link below.

Reminder from our previous email. If you have the app, due to size limitations on your personal folder, please do not add the folder to your personal Dropbox. You can play the files through the app without adding them to your personal Dropbox. If you are having problems, please contact sales@soararts.com.

Water Bottles

Reminder that there is not a water fountain on the third level of the movie theater. Cast members should bring a water bottle with them.

Headshots Updated

Unfortunately, our photographer was called away on a family emergency. We developed a backup plan with our outstanding Beyond the Stage Coordinator, Charlene. We will begin the process again on Tuesday and our plan is to get through the entire cast depending on rehearsal needs. If we are unable to get all the photos on Tuesday, we will continue on Thursday. Charlene will begin taking photos at 5:45pm after the cast members begin check in. Please be sure to have your participant wear a solid shirt with hair groomed away from their face.

Marketing Meeting

Everyone is invited to join us for our marketing meeting on Monday, January 23rd from 7:15pm-8:00pm during rehearsal at Town Center. Marketing is a crucial part of productions, we would love to see you!

Program Ads

If you or someone you know would like to purchase an ad to help offset the cost of the programs, please email sales@soararts.com or simply purchase the ad here: http://www.soararts.com/Ads.html We will have an incredibly beautiful, full-color, magazine-quality program with pictures and bios of the entire cast. Deadline to purchase an ad is February 1, 2017.

Ticket Sales

If your friend and family have not purchased tickets to the show, let them know that it is $2 more at the door! Last year we had several shows sell out! The only way to guarantee a seat is to purchase them online!
