Dear Global Philadelphian:

With the New Year well under way, we are delighted to share with you our new members who have joined the Global Philadelphia partnership. They are highlighted at the top of this news.

Reading this first edition of the 2017 Insider, you will see that many countries are touched, in so many ways, by our member's work in Philadelphia and the region...travel, art, sports, science. There are numerous and tremendously exciting ways to connect and engage with the world, right here in Philadelphia!

Thinking about this, lead me to start cataloging how many of our leaders in city and civic institutions are indeed from other lands. Canada, India, Britain, France, Australia, China and Colombia are among some of the nations well represented by our civic leaders; an attribute that is pertinent to Philadelphia but perhaps not always to other North American cities.  We can be proud! With this notion In mind, we will feature a "Global Conversation" with a global leader from Philadelphia every month. This month's conversation took place with George de Lama, when he first took the leadership of Eisenhower Fellowships.

The staff at the Association has begun working on Globalphilly17, the third iteration of the Global Expo taking place September 15 to November, 1st 2017 - 45 days of global events showcasing the world through the work of our members.  Find out how you can take part in this fantastic event and let us know what you are planning. It's a winning formula for our global city and great fun to boot!

Recurring in this edition of the Insider, you will find the subject of faith. Our city founded on the principles of religious freedom has much to share and so many faiths are welcomed here. Indeed this month we were thrilled to be present for the launch of the Faith and Liberty Center, an interactive welcoming space celebrating the bible in numerous forms, iterations and languages to be built on Independence Mall by the American Bible Society. Additionally, Dr. Leonard Swidler, founder of the Dialogue Institute celebrates 50 years at Temple University!

We are always here to help you put the focus on our global city.
Be in touch!

Best Wishes
Zabeth Teelucksingh
