THE RIGHT MARGIN CLOSING + PANEL TALK SMALL EDITIONS | SUN JAN 29 | 3 PM
60 SACKETT ST.
Commemorating the closing of "The Right Margin" exhibition, we will be hosting a panel discussion with the artists: Andy Ralph, Joshua Caleb Weibley, and Katie Pennachio. The talk will be moderated by the curators Alt Esc, followed by a Q and A.
"The Right Margin" explores artists approaching and digesting technology, whether digital or industrial, through "off the screen" mediums such as welding, painting, and drawing. From Katie Pennachio's graphic paintings of Excel spreadsheets - elaborate renditions of forms and lines that do not exist in nature, to Joshua Caleb Weibley's hand drawn covers of the computer generated O'Reilly Media's coding software guides, to Andy Ralph's factory-like transformed objects. The panel will focus on maintaining artist autonomy in a heavily tech driven time, the presentation of artwork on a screen versus in real life, and the definition of mark making.
