Jane Finch Community Research Partnership Presents the JFCRP Symposium

On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in collaboration with the CEC, the Jane Finch Community Research Partnership (JFCRP) Symposium was held at PEACH (Promoting Education and Community Health). The event inspired dialogue between York faculty, staff, student researchers and community members concerning how York University carries out research in the community. This even will further strengthen the relationship and encourage mutually beneficial research amongst the university and community.

The conference ended with two working groups: 1)  to develop a community ethics process, and 2)  to develop an accessible collection space for Jane Finch research.  Stay tuned for the full report and contact the CEC if you would like to join one of the working groups.

Welcoming New Members to the Team!

We are thrilled to welcome our new community projects coordinator, Sam Tecle, to the team here. We are also excited to have a new MSW field placement student from York, Ariella Meinhard, who will be working with us this year.
Sam is a PhD student at York and along with numerous community research projects, has been on staff with Success Beyond Limits since 2009.  Sam is a strong community researcher, educator, and advocate, and we look forward to having him join the CEC team.
Ariella has worked as a community health worker both in Toronto and internationally. She also practices Chinese medicine and acupuncture and is now pursuing her Master's in Social Work at York University. Ariella is excited to be part of the CEC team.
