Dear <<First Name>>,
There's nothing like the frigid winds outside to make us all cherish the comforts of home, real or staged!

Warm Up At Home

This year, the Scandinavian concept of hygge is getting all sorts of coverage in the press. With Swedish relatives in Wendy's family, it's something we've embraced for years, and even applied to our staging. Hygge is coziness with an emphasis on simplicity and minimalism, not clutter. It is about living in comfort.

When we stage a house, we try to achieve hygge. We look at how families can share the space, how they can entertain friends and eat together. We set up spaces to play games or to nestle in with a good book.
In our home life and when we stage, we make it about being able to rest the eye and have space to relax with friends and family. Space is the ultimate luxury and that's cozy.
In winter we use more throws, more blankets, and sometimes stronger colors too. We use the game table (below left) to stage that sense of hygge homey charm. We also make sure to stage a mudroom space for boots and outerwear.

In other hygge news...
Maplewood and South Orange are naturally hygge, aren't they? Both towns are filled with friendly charm.Nowhere is that more pronounced than at the holidays, and this year we were two of the Maplewood families recognized for having the best holiday decor! The Maplewood Civic Association's Holiday Decoration Program recognized us for our glowing displays! We're so proud, and delighted to celebrate with all our neighbors.

The sale of 32 Wychwood Road in Livingston is a classic example of the power of staging. Realtor Robert Zebaida said the house was on the market for six months with another agent, but had no offers. He hired us to stage the home; then in the first weekend Zebaida had six offers on the property.
We also worked with Robert Zebaida on 2 Balmoral Drive, also in Livingston. This home was newly renovated and the power of staging allowed us to define the space beautifully. Zebaida said they were able to secure three offers the first weekend it was on the market.
Luis Mota represented 592 Lehigh Ave., in Union, NJ, and said the property received five offers within its first week on the market. It's now under contract.
