Welcoming the 2017 Collaroy Cougars Rugby Season!

Hi Everyone

Welcome to 2017 and an exciting new Rugby Season ahead of us. As we finalise details for the year, we wanted to keep you informed of upcoming key information.

Registration

Our club continues to lead the way in ensuring we are the most cost effective registration on the Northern Beaches and beyond. Indeed, costing considerably less compared to other sporting codes.
This year we are seeing significant cost increases from Northern Beaches Council, Sydney Junior Rugby Union, and Insurance premiums. As a club we have not increased registration fees in four years and due to increased costs are unable to subsidise at the same levels.

Our goal is to continue to be your club with the most cost effective registration, and as such we are busy securing new sponsorship, and although our registration fees will increase to cover costs, our research supports our goal and commitment to you.

We expect online registration with an outline of fees to be posted by the end of this coming week. We will update Facebook and our Website accordingly to allow you all to take advantage of the Earlybird registration.

This year your registration will exclude the costs of photo’s, however include a ‘players’ kit for all our kids. This kit includes: Training Jersey, Shorts, Socks, back sack, and water bottle.

There are some key events being held in February - we have an information evening for our Coaches and Managers on the 6th February, and an U10's Parents /Guardian information evening on the 13th February. Read below for full information on these and other events, including some registration days at the club house.

Key Events

The season officially kicks off the weekend of Friday March 31^st – Sunday April 2^nd.
When we receive the draw for games we will update you as soon as possible.

Thank you to all of our Coaches and Managers - To ensure we attract and retain the best of Coaches and Managers, we will run an information evening on Monday 6^th February 2017 at the Club Room at 7pm. If you are interested in managing a team or coaching a team, please lock this date and time into your calendar. We are working on putting a guide together for all volunteers to help streamline and ensure a consistent and cohesive approach and communication to all our players and parent/guardian group.

For Juniors - U10’s 2017 Parents/Guardian Evening 13^th February 2017 – Club Room – 7pm to 8pm

We recognise players moving from Mini’s to Juniors (U9’s to U10’s) can be challenging, therefore we encourage all Parents/Guardians of the U10 players for this year, 2017, to join this information evening to ensure clarity on rules and what you can expect.

As part of our commitment to all players, we work hard to ensure all players are in an environment that fosters teamwork, respect, lasting friendships, community and fun. Part of this is to ensure players are in the team and grade most suited to them to maximise their abilities and friendships. Therefore in 2017 we will have a selection panel with experience selectors to help us grade our teams effectively. Stay posted as we firm up further details.

Season Launch/Skills Day – We are excited to again bring you our Season Launch/Skills day full of fun, teamwork and skills learning. We are working to secure a date in mid-March, stay posted and we will inform you as soon as we have secured a day.

Registration Days at the Clubhouse - there will be an opportunity to register at the Clubhouse on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February from 9.00am - 12.00pm, and on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February from 9.00am - 12.00pm.

Reminder – The Waratahs are playing a trial game at Brookvale Oval on Thursday 16^th February with kick off at 6.30pm. You can buy your tickets here. The Collaroy Cougars will have a stand there that our VPS of Minis and Juniors, Mike and Mick, are manning.
