One of my markers of creative success is a great launch party, and I hope my next one will be the most spectacular one yet. On February 11th, I hope you can join me in a fantasy, as my character reads from a hot new novella at an extravagant costume party.  

The Vesuvian Affair (Mystic Editions) was inspired by a crazy trip to Italy I took two years ago. On the spur of the moment I climbed Mount Vesuvius and went to Carnevale in Venice. Mind thoroughly blown, I became possessed by an insistent narrative voice (Cosima Zanardi, international woman of mystery), who helped me take some creative risks and awaken to fertile new literary territory. (As in, rated 'R'!) Art, science, spirituality and sex all collide in this sensual story of a sacred seduction.

The Prosecco (not Champagne) reception will take place at a Carnevale-themed party in Oakland, celebrating the first day of this spectacular international arts event in Italy. I am scared to death of course, but have come to trust the process...art, like magma, sometimes needs to get out into the open...!

I invite you to dress up, and/or wear a mask! If you really love the costume idea, then please come for the entire event, An Afternoon at Caffé Florian. It starts at 2pm and will be EPIC fun! Local artists, musicians, and poets will perform.
