Lesson 1993: The Lions’ Den, Pt.1
Daniel in the lions’ den (Dan.6:1-24) is one of the most familiar events in the Old Testament.
Similar to Daniel chapter 5, it focuses on 1 day in the life of Daniel (starting at Dan.6:10).
The lions' den was given the same amount of Scripture as Daniel chapter 7 (28 verses).
Daniel 7 is the panoramic view of world history – the dream of the 4 beasts (Gentile empires).
From God’s viewpoint, the lions’ den was a very significant event, for Daniel and for us.
Why did the lions’ den mean so much to God?
Daniel’s enemies set a trap to kill him. They tricked the king into making a law against true prayer.
Daniel obeyed God rather than men (same as John & Peter in Acts 4:19-31, 5:29).
Legally the king had to condemn Daniel; he ordered for Daniel to be cast into the lions’ den.
Daniel could have said, “God, this is not fair! I deserve better treatment!” But he trusted God.
