Third-party certification exams provide a mechanism where students can demonstrate proficiency and readiness to enter the workforce. Industry-validated certificates are particularly appealing since the industry review process ensures that the exams cover skills and knowledge that align with industry needs. Bio-Link's webinar panel will discuss the Biotechnicians Assistant Credential Exam (BACE), a certification exam developed by Biotility at the University of Florida's Center of Excellence for Regenerative Health Biotechnology.

The Worthington Regional Bio-Science Conference is a great opportunity to connect with Animal and Plant based bioscience practitioners in the Tri State region of South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. What evolves out of one area of biotech often times has implications in other areas of importance to overall quality of life. The conference is open to anyone involved in or interested in the bioscience industry, including students.

Dr. V. Celeste Carter is the Program Director for the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF). This workshop provides opportunities to learn about grant programs of interest, hear from current Principal Investigators on tips and strategies, and participate in a mock review panel.
By the end of the program, participants will:
- Become familiar with NSF programs
- Learn strategies for developing a robust proposal
- Gain an understanding of the merit review process used by the NSF
The workshop will be held on April 7th from 8:00 to 11:30 at Austin Community College Highland Campus.

The CSO Summit 2.0 in Austin TX will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about new approaches to providing student work experiences, whether inside or outside the college. Discussion topics will include:
- Balancing industry requirements with educational needs
- Intellectual property

- Legal contractual agreements
- Measuring impact
- Sustainability

The AC2 Bio-Link Research Mentoring Workshop will highlight strategies to embed research into class experiences within AC2 partner institutions and to foster a national mentoring network for broader implementation of undergraduate research. A benefit of research mentoring is that it enables two-year students to successfully compete with students from four-year schools at regional and national meetings.
The conference will be held at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 21st-22nd.

It is close to the vernal equinox but the Bio-Link community is already into summer--well Summer Fellows anyway. It is time to apply for the Bio-Link National Summer Fellows Forum--the workshop proposal deadline is April 1st and the fellowship application deadline is April 3rd so don't be late! The Bio-Link National Summer Fellows Forum will take place from June 5th to June 9th and promises to be a terrific chance to learn about the latest practices in biotechnology education. The faculty and staff of Madison College and City of San Francisco are pleased to announce this exciting summer professional development opportunity designed for high-school and two-year college science and technical education instructors. The same course will be taught three times, at two different locations in an effort to make it available to as many instructors as possible. The Academy will be taught by a team of nationally recognized biotechnology educators led by Dr. Thomas Tubon and Dr. Robert DelVecchio.
The Academy will cover:
- Aseptic techniques
- Routine maintenance and culturing of stem cells
- Mouse models of stem cell differentiation
- Light and epifluorescence microscopy
- PCR-based gene expression profiling for germ layer analysis
- Methods for directed differentiation from pluripotent cultures
- Emerging technologies including genomic editing in stem cells (CRISPR/CAS9)
- 3D Cell Culturing Systems for Tissue Engineering
- Classroom integration of instructional materials and tips for coursework and cost sustainability
