Presentation Evening at Chelmsford Cathedral

The Boswells School held its prestigious annual Presentation Evening at Chelmsford Cathedral when 200 students were rewarded for their achievements within a variety of academic areas.

Key Stage Three subject awards were presented to students who finished Year 9 with outstanding levels of achievement while ‘Golden Scallops’ were awarded to students who achieved the very highest levels of attainment.

Red ties were presented to students who have achieved excellence with Sport and Performing Arts over a number of years.

Upper School Prefects were presented with ties to distinguish them to other students in the school.

To be awarded a Prefect tie students have to contribute to evening events at the school, support younger students and help staff within faculty areas.

There were also awards for those students in Years 7 to 11 who had demonstrated an outstanding contribution to tutor time.

The final awards of the evening were the ‘Prize for GCSE Attainment’ which was presented to Michael Bottomley (who achieved nine A* and 2As at GCSE).

Alex Gutteridge was awarded the ‘Prize for A-Level Attainment’ following his four A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and EPQ and an A in Mathematics.

Alex has now gone on to read Chemistry at Oxford University.

Headteacher Paul Banks said: "It was a pleasure to celebrate the achievement of those students who have made an outstanding contribution to the school, as well as celebrating the achievements of those students who sat their GCSE and A-Level examinations last summer.

"We recognised the outstanding levels of effort, determination, hard work, achievement and attainment that many of our students demonstrated last year. It was also superb to be able to recognise students who were in the Lower School last year and they received awards for their academic achievement in lessons as well as their contribution and effort in school.

"The common factor across the evening was celebrating the success of the students of The Boswells School across all ages regardless of their academic ability.

"We are incredibly proud of the achievement of all our students and, in particular, those students who received awards. I would like to thank the efforts of the teachers who supported the students to get to this position.

"We are incredibly lucky to have a group of teachers who are experts in their field, dedicated to supporting children and passionate about ensuring the success of our students."
