Welcome to our first newsletter!
We've been busy here at Dwinell Country Ales - and our newsletter is the perfect way to stay updated about our progress.
- In January, we received our Federal Brewer's Notice from the TTB and approval of our Site Plan from the City of Goldendale.
- In early-February, we were accepted into the Breweries in the Gorge. We're very excited to be part of this group of local breweries and beer-lovers.
- In mid-February, the Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board granted us conditional approval for our Washington Microbrewery License.
- Within the last two weeks we purchase a delivery van and our 7 bbl brew system from Stout Tanks and Kettles (Portland, OR).
- This week we finalized plans with our subcontractors to build out the brewhouse and tasting room, presented our progress to the Goldendale City Council, and received a loan from the Mid-Columbia Economic Development District.
- We're scheduled to start the build-out of the brewhouse in early-March.
- Based on current lead times, we expect to receive our brew system in late-June/early-July, which will allow us to open our doors as planned in mid- to late-September 2017.

In early-February, we teamed up with Backwoods Brewing (Carson, WA), adding their Gifford Pinchot Pilsner to a pair of freshly dumped Viognier barrels from Maryhill Winery. We then topped off these bad boys with a funky mixed-culture of yeast and bacteria from Imperial Yeast.

At Dwinell, we make American Wild Ales - beers inspired by traditional European Farmhouse Ales. If you're interested in learning more about these beers, check out this article.

During Presidents' Day Weekend, we visited our friends at Mecca Grade Estate Malt (Madras, OR) to observe their kilning process, taste delicious farmhouse ales, and collaborate on a beer. We used their unique estate-grown malt to create a lightly smoked, slightly sour saison that we fermented with a blend of wild yeast strains. It's our goal to work with as many local producers and farmers as possible.
